GLASS BLOWING: PROCESS
IV Fab Lab offers a range of glass blowing options for fine art, design elements, architectural components, and furniture design.
Glassblowing begins with melting silica soda ash, lime, and colorants in a furnace. Once molten, the glass is then gathered from the furnace with steel tubes known as blow pipes. Forms are created by blowing through the pipes inflating the glass while the blower turns and shapes it with an assortment of steel and wood tools. The glass can also be blown into molds to create additional patterns and designs.
